Now platinum is one of the most expensive metals. In early 2008 1 gram of platinum would cost around $33. It is more expensive than gold, in fact it is twice as expensive but it is great in jewellery as it is tarnish resistant.

It is less pliable than gold but it is 30 times rarer than gold and it can sometimes be mistaken for silver, but it is whiter in colour. But it is also one of the purest of the metals and is less likely to cause a reaction, so it is great for people with skin problems.

Titanium is a strong metal with a low density that is metallic white in colour. It is also corrosion resistant. Because of it durability it is now more popular for the use of rings. Especially because if it is grooved it does not lose its strength like the other metals.

History

It was discovered in Cornwall, England in 1791 by a amateur geologist and pastor William Gregor. The then vicar, recognised this new element when he found the black sands by a stream of his near by parish was attracted by a magnet.

And that is how titanium was discovered and it has been used for many years in planes and satellites as it is one of the strongest materials known to man.

Titanium is also pure and there is not a high record of allergies known to the material.
